Why This Website Exists

A UAE gratuity payout depends on several things at once: your contract type, whether you resigned or were let go, how many years you completed, and whether unpaid leave reduced your service time. Most calculators online only handle one or two of these and skip the rest. The number they show looks final, but it is often wrong for anyone whose case is not the simplest possible one.

This calculator was built to take all of those variables into account in one place, using the accrual method set out in UAE labour law: 21 days of basic salary per year for the first five years, 30 days per year after that, capped at two years' total salary. The blog on this site walks through how each part applies to specific situations, such as resignation, termination, or working past the five year mark.

What the Calculator Does

On the calculator page, you enter your first and last working day, your basic salary, your contract type, any unpaid absence days, and whether you resigned or were terminated. It works out your exact service period in days, subtracts unpaid absence, applies the correct rate for each bracket of years, and applies the two year salary cap where it matters. You see the full breakdown, not just one final figure, so you can check each step yourself.

Who Writes and Maintains This Site

This site is built and written by Syed Sheraz. He built the calculator and writes the guides that go with it, based on UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021 and public guidance from MOHRE. Every figure and rule used on this site is checked against those sources before it is published or updated.

Where the Numbers Come From

The calculation logic follows the accrual rates and salary cap published by the UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation and the UAE Government Portal's labour law pages. Both are linked on the calculator page so you can check the original source yourself instead of taking this site's word for it.

What This Tool Cannot Do

This calculator gives an estimate, not a legal ruling. Some contracts include clauses that change the standard entitlement, and some employers apply their own policy on top of the statutory minimum. If your result matters for a resignation, a dispute, or a final settlement you are about to sign, check the figure with your HR department or a licensed UAE employment lawyer before relying on it.
